Uniform Marine Detachment

*Enlisted fatigue single breasted dark indigo Kersey blue frock coat with scarlet welt at the base of collar, seven Marine buttons down the front and two above the tail on the back I have a supply of these hard to come by buttons, two small cuff buttons on each sleeve.

*Trousers, winter dress sky blue same as infantry (but if you are buying new these had mule ear pockets) with white suspenders.
Summer dress or tropical were made of white linen to the same pattern as Army issue with out mule ear pockets. Trousers were usually worn with white cotton suspenders.

*Fatigue Capes (dark blue Kepi) the insignia was a bugle with red in the middle and a Old English “M” in the centre mounted on the front just above the leather visor,

* Shirts can be red or blue Federal Pattern.

 

*Footwear bootees issued were Jefferson bootees which were square-toed. (Brogans boots are acceptable).

*Waist belts were of white buff leather with a plain brass rectangular buckle.

*Cartridge Box belt & Bayonet Frog belt were both white buff leather with a oval brass plate in the centre.     

*The cap and Cartridge box were of the M1855 and black with no U.S. plate or embossing on. (We do accept our infantry boxes for this until you can update it ) the bayonet scabbard is the M1842 which will fit bayonets for the Enfield and Springfield.
 
*Canteens mostly were of the bulls-eye type, painted black.                   

*Marines were issued with the Harpers Ferry M1855 but in 1864 they were being changed to the M1863 however your 1861 Springfield will do.
